So many lakeshore communities are rethinking ADUs and STRs. Personally, I prefer reducing the minimum size for a dwelling if we are concerned. Also, perhaps spending more time and involvement of the PC and locals to improve transportation choices in the region. Not every place is affordable to everybody. That is just a fact of life. Saugatuck City was a recent one, Muskegon, South Haven (big debacle). All have very strict rules now because it went wild. These places are not affordable and ADUs as seasonal rentals has not helped with affordability. ADUs need to have a maximum size‚ and it needs to be small. Renting needs to be restricted to one or the other, either the primary house or the ADU.
