Lot Size and Housing Costs
We Love Harbor Springs
The City does not require a large lot size in the Zoning Code, but most new homes are being built on multi lots to accommodate the desired home. There are the beginnings of a trend for new homeowners to buy two or more lots to construct their home. It could be this trend will not continue due to the cost of land and individual lots. We were seeing that many new homes were being built right to the setback lines and providing the maximum size home on a small lot. Greater density and smaller homes are not going to solve the housing concerns in Emmet County, only raise the value of small homes in Harbor Springs as market demand is high in this desirable resort community.
